World Sexual Health Day (WSHD) is on Saturday 4th September and is an annual event organized by the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) designed to promote education, awareness, and best practices in sexual health.
The theme for 2021 is ‘Sexual health in a digital world’, inspired not only by the global pandemic and the increased communication of people around the world via the internet, but also because many of the educational events surrounding the day will be conducted online this year.
As one of the world’s leading providers of private sexual health testing services and an advocate of sexual health education and information, Better2Know is proud to support this annual awareness day which has been running since 2010. You can find many articles and information about STIs on the Better2Know website and blog.
The aim of World Sexual Health Day and WAS is to foster a positive perspective on sexuality, one that is respectful of all sexual identities, wherever people see themselves on the sexual spectrum. They also wish to improve sexual education around the world and to promote the understanding that sexual rights are also basic human rights, essential for well-being and living a fulfilling life.
Sexual Health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.
These are very much philosophies that as a company Better2Know advocates and agrees with. Sexual health is an important area of human health and in turn deserves attention and respect.
Being aware of safe sexual practices, keeping up to date with information, educating ourselves and being respectful to our sexual partners is as important as regular testing and diagnosis of sexual health related infections. Conducting yourself in a sexually responsible manner is crucial in having individual peace of mind and ensuring sexual fulfillment.
Better2Know is here to help you protect your sexual health.
