Better2Know offers Instant STI tests at selected private clinics throughout the UK. Our Instant Four Bloods Screen will provide rapid results for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections.
The period of incubation required for this screen is 28 days, which is the amount of time between possible exposure and your STI test.
If you are unsure about your incubation period or have any other queries, please contact our highly trained sexual health advisors on the number given above. The incubation period for HIV tests can vary, so please ensure you discuss this with your advisor.
What is the Instant testing process?
Your patient journey begins when you book your Instant test with Better2Know, either via our online booking system or by contacting our expert Patient Services team. One of our experienced advisors will arrange your private appointment at a time and date that suits you, depending on your incubaton period.
Once you have arrived at the clinic, you will be seen by a qualified medical practitioner who will go through the testing process before taking your samples. We will not require a venous blood sample for this screen, instead your private nurse or clinician will use a finger prick lancet. Analysis will be conducted by the nurse or clinician whilst you wait in the clinic and you will receive your results shortly after.
When will I get my results?
Your confidential results will be available in less than 30 minutes. Your nurse or clinician will give you a signed and completed copy of the Better2Know Rapid Test Results Report once all your results are ready to report.
What happens if my Instant test is positive?
If your Instant Four Bloods Screen is positive for any of the infections included, Better2Know will run further confirmatory analysis at no extra cost. Our expert advisors will help you access the treatment or support you may require.
HIV is no longer the life-threatening infection it once was. With early detection and treatment the condition can be managed, with those infected living a healthy life. If your test comes back positive for HIV, Better2Know will refer you to a specialist service. We also work in conjunction with the Terrence Higgins Trust, who can provide additional support. Your infection will be monitored and treated with antiretroviral medications that serve to stop the virus from multiplying and allow the immune system to heal itself. Infected individuals will respond differently to certain medications, so you will be prescribed a treatment that suits you.
If you test positive for Syphilis, we will arrange a private doctor’s consultation, so you can discuss your diagnosis in more detail. Syphilis is treatable and your Better2Know doctor will be able to prescribe the medication you require. If your Instant screen is reactive for Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C, Better2Know will refer you to a specialist who can provide guidance on further treatment options. Treatment for Hepatitis often consists of antiviral medications, and careful monitoring for either infection is recommended.
